Homework Task: Taonga Example

This week's special inquiry homework task is to share a special taonga to you and your whānau.  A taonga is something that you treasure... normally an object but it is something that has special meaning to you (it doesn't have to be culturally based) - maybe it was given to you by someone special, or was passed down to you from other family members, or was given to you at a special time... but some students have had some questions, so here's an example for you from Ms Matangi...

Pepeha Kupu Hou

We have been learning about, and preparing our pepeha... but, there are some tricky words to pronounce in te reo Māori so here's a video to help you practice your pronunciation for those of you who are up to creating your pepeha on Explain Everything... we are so looking forward to your presentations!  Thanks to Katie H for the great idea!

As part of learning about who we are, where we belong and our whānau, we have been learning how to ask and answer questions about our whānau.  Take a look at these great examples as we work towards creating and presenting our pepeha.

• Year 3 and 4 Swimming Sports (see newsletters and notices if you're not sure about this).
• STAR Reading testing is on Tuesday, around swimming times in the morning.
• We also look forward to sharing in your child's special homework task - sharing their special tāonga.

Scream Self Portraits

In Tautoko pod we have been learning about ourselves, what's important to us, where we belong and our whānau.  As part of this, we have created our own self portraits with a twist... we had to draw them like we were screaming....

Take a look at these examples and parents, these will be in our pod in the next few days so please feel free to come in and take a look at your child's portrait once it's up.  We think they've done so well!
